Blackberries {the old fashioned kind}

Do we like blackberries? Oh boy, do we ever! says Ben.

Blackberries picked fresh on Grandma’s farm are best, and homemade blackberry jam on toast is good too, but we won’t complain about a pint from the local market! Oh goodness, we’re not picky!

Everyone has their own blackberry style – Throw ‘em down the hatch or tentatively taste {newbies usually}.

There are silent, serious eaters

And giggly, goofy eaters

Uh oh, a blackberry spill! Lesson learned- don’t let the baby hold the berries.

But a little tumble never hurt a berry, and blackberries quickly vanish, leaving two full little bellies {with just a smidge of evidence remaining}.

  1. Your kids are squishably adorable!
    Karla, just making sure you heard about h&H – call me ;)

  2. :) When I saw your message I carefully put Carys in her crib {she’d woken up at 5am and and had just fallen back asleep} then sprinted down the hallway, stubbed my toe on our bedroom door, and yelled to Jeff while jumping on the bed. He was sleeping up until this point and I scared him to death when I burst into the room. A fun start to Friday!

  3. Oh your kids are so cute Karla!!

    hmmm… i wondered if this was an OLD post – blackberries aren’t in season. is this a vancouver blog? sorry to miss the sweetness, but it seemed out of context and season. looks delicious anyway.

  6. Thanks for your comment. You are correct, blackberries aren’t in season here in the Lower Mainland yet, though they are delicious when they are. The local markets seem to have tons of blackberries in store though {from California I believe?} and despite the fact that we TRY and buy local/in season produce, I couldn’t say no to my cute 3 yr old begging to bring some home. This is not an old post, the pictures were taken on Thursday and it was written that evening. My blog is intended to just be snippets about my life, design, family, etc so I apologise if you felt it wasn’t seasonally appropriate, but it was a fun {tasty} part of our day I thought I’d share. Thank you for reading!

  7. From beginning to end, I was smiling! I even had a wee giggle at the satisfied-looking little blackberry stained smile that you left us with. Thanks Karla!!

    Hahaha…adorable…exactly the same way my little boy Jacq feels about strawberries and watermelon…there is nothing that gives me more joy than to see my little boy loving his food.
