Back In The Day
I remember back in grade 11 English one of my favourite teachers Mrs. Baerg gave us an assignment….create a scrapbook of our life. All the details of what our future life would turn out like. University, our spouse, children, home, hobbies, and whatever else we wanted to include. In my book I married a guy named Dave Kennedy {geez that last name would have saved a whole lotta spelling that Amadatsu now requires!} and we had 5, count ‘em FIVE children {so. not. gonna. happen.}. For some reason back then I thought that giving each of my kids two middle names was pretty cool {no offense to anyone who has two middle names or who has given their kids 2} and I insisted on ensuring that each and every kid met the name quota. I still remember that I named my oldest daughter Gwyneth. Sigh. How I loved that name. Her middle names were Elizabeth and Eleanor {after my grandma}, and it wasn’t until my book was handed in for marking that it dawned on me that I had given my poor daughter the initials G.E.E.K. Oops! Sorry dear!
Anyhow, I digress…

On the weekend I picked up the latest copy of Vogue, the one with the other Gwyneth on the cover. Yes, I know, the issue has been out a while already, but Mommy/Business owners are sometimes Tardy for the Party {ugh I couldn’t resist the shameless Real Housewives reference….I have an obsession}. After reading the article, and despite the thoughts of a few {slightly negative} commentaries online, I have to say this:
I love Gwyneth
Seriously, isn’t she the perfect combination of Style/Class/Cool/Funny/Waspy-ness that you can’t help but love? Ms. Paltrow has a cook book hitting bookstores in 2011 and the fact that she loves to cook and eat makes her my kinda girl all the more.

While we’re on the subject of Gwyneth, we can’t leave out the phenomenon that is GOOP. If you aren’t a Goop subscriber, get on it, because the weekly newsletters that inspire readers to Make, Go, Get, Do, Be, or See are fabulous! Even my husband has been known to read {and enjoy} a little Goop.
Making the 30′s And Beyond Look Dang Good
And finally, before I sign off, Gwyneth if you are reading this would you please consider sending me every outfit you wore for the Vogue shoot? Cause I’m in love with ‘em all. Particularly the blue dress on the cover. ESPECIALLY the blue dress on the cover, I mean, it’s GORGEOUS and my favorite shade of blue. We all know celebrities can’t wear clothes more than once or they’ll get slammed by the tabloids, so you’ll think about it, right???

I too LOVE the ravishing Ms G . . . and I adore Goop. Don’t tell anyone…hahaha. I don’t generally care much about hollywood stars etc. but there is just something about Gwenyth that I adore . . . maybe because she does like to cook & eat makes her human? Did you see her on the Spain road trip with Mario Bertelli? Fab…
I love Gwyneth too – just as you say, the perfect combination of “Style/Class/Cool/Funny/Waspy-ness”! And she looks FANTASTIC in these Vogue shots. You can have her dresses Karla, I want her stylist
!
I had never heard of GOOP before and am now subscribed. I’m looking forward to the inspirational newsletters. I love what I’ve read so far.
Thanks for the great post!
How do we know you didn’t write everything in order to get the dress? (wink wink)
I sometimes like Gwyneth and sometimes simply can’t stand her. I think she’s a great actress (you should see Two Lovers if you haven’t yet – she’s phenomenal in it), I like GOOP, but sometimes she gets on my nerves.
I love your little story. Sounds like you were an adorable child (not that I ever doubted…)
I just read that article and love her outfits as well! I am intrigued by Goop and must check it out!
three things:
a) mrs. baerg is awesome and was also my favourite teacher
b) miss g = fab.u.lous; easy to love, easy to hate – a perfect combination for adoration
c) i think we can share; you take the blue dress and i would like the black and white deliciousness (i think it’s a dress) in the second shot. yes. please.
cute karla! i love the strategically placed toys on the kitchen floor
I remember doing the same assignment in 9th grade. Our teacher called them lifestyle notebooks. My husband completed one the year we got married. The parallels between his notebook and where we are today is scary (in a good way)!
…..Great entry!…….
She is such a classic beauty. I have always loved Gwen. She seriously does not have a wrinkle on her face!!
She’s striking and makes it look so easy.
Natasha – I think we may have a deal {re: clothing split} as long as you promise to let me borrow the b&w number occasionally, it’s adorable. I may or may not fry things in the kitchen a la Gwyneth while wearing it.
Heather – I know, I love how there just happens to be a Buzz Lightyear hangin out in the kitchen while Gwyneth cooks in a floor length gown. Truth be told, that’s what my kitchen floor looks like all the time {no Vogue prop stylists needed}, though the cooking in a floor length gown part only happens occasionally.
Andrea – you’re totally right, she is a classic beauty…though seriously I’ve seen a few pics of you on Facebook and I’m thinking you might totally be her Doppelganger!
Belly – you see right through me….will my shameless flattery earn me that gorgeous blue Burberry dress? I sure as heck hope so!
Sharon – didn’t yet see the special with Mario Batalli but I would love to. Italian food mmmm
I wish I could look as effortlessly chic as she does. She can take a white tee and old jeans and look fab.
Funny…when I saw that blue/purple dress, before I even read your comments, I thought 1..love that dress…2..I could make that..and 3..how would it look twice the size?
Yes Belly..she was an adorable child…most of the time.
You are too kind:)
[...] then I stumbled across Gwyneth’s appearances on Glee and I was sold. As I have said before, I love Ms. G, and her Glee performances have provided reason #957 why Gwyneth Paltrow and I should [...]
