Come early Spring, I’m sort of obsessed with flowering branches. Forsythia, magnolia, cherry blossoms, apple blossoms, quince, crabapple… it’s all gorgeous. There is something about spare woody lengths studded with little blossoms that is both elegant and effortless. It’s an addition to our decor that can only come at this time of year, and its signal of Spring is a welcome one.
Here are some pictures of the forsythia the kids and I cut on our walk last week. The little yellow flowers are so bright and happy, and it was fun to see each day new little green leaves sprout on the tips of the branches.

And since it’s looking a little gray outside in my part of the world today, I thought a little extra dose of pretty is in order! Perhaps some inspiration for you to find some beautiful flowering branches for your home!

Send me some pictures of your lovely flowering branches!

we sure are! great images!
LOVE flowering branches and bring them home when ever I can! They don’t love me, though… if only I could breathe and make it through the day without sneezing!
Note: Jennifer also wrote (strangely enough about the exact same time today) a wonderful post on flowering branches too! You can check it out at her lovely blog The Newlywed Diaries http://newlyweddiaries.blogspot.com/2010/03/flowering-branches.html
I’ve been obsessing over spring blooms too, but as our outside is prettier than our inside I have been taking pictures instead of cuttings. Ive taken lots of plum blossom close-ups featuring our honey bees…I’m planning on using some for honey labels…..If I could figure out how to add some pictures to this I would.
those yellow blossoms are gorgeous!!!
I adore blossom branches! From what I can see, in the first couple of pics, your house looks lovely.
Hi Janis! Thank you! I consider that a big compliment given how many gorgeous homes you’ve been in and shot
